Aubergines also known as eggplant, is the ultimate summer food. You can use them in many recipes – like my mom does – and enjoy their great flavor.

Moreover aubergines have the ability to move excess iron out of the body and reduces the chance of cardiovascular diseases and strokes because they help to lower bad cholesterol.

suicide squad

Suicide Squad (2016)

Beyond the interesting aesthetic, “Suicide Squad” doesn’t really have much going for it and is nothing more than a film dedicated to Batman and Superman’s enemies in which they compare their abilities to see who’s the best of all. Thanks to some interesting characters, this is a fun film to watch, but not as much fun as it should have been. It’s
actually disappointing to see all that potential wasted. But despite some major flaws, this film has good performances from Will Smith and Margot Robbie and a few solid action scenes. “Suicide Squad” had the potential to be an awesome superhero summer blockbuster but unfortunately everything is so flat.

And Our Superfood of The Week Goes To… Sesame Seeds

by Niki Kefala

Sesame seeds are extremely good for our health, here we explore why and offer a top tip at getting more in to your diet

Do you need a sweet delicacy that is also healthy? Halva could be your choice and you can found it available in many tasty flavours such as vanilla, cocoa and with almonds. Is a traditional sweet found in the Middle East and Greece and is typically made with a mix of honey, sesame seeds paste called tahini and sugar. Although it’s generally high in fat – the most important is that does not contain trans fat or cholesterol – sesame has been known for a long time as a healthy food because is rich with high-quality proteins, fats, calcium, iron (perfect food for those with anemia), vitamin B1, B2 and E that prevents premature aging. If you want more reasons to eat halva, you should probably know that…

Tomatoes! Why you should love them

by Niki Kefala

What is red, tasty, in season and you can use it in the most of your recipes? The answer is tomato. Now that you will find the health benefits of this vegetable, I’m sure that you will eat it everyday.

Tomatoes are a good source of Vitamins A, C, K, folate and potassium. They are low in sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol and calories (22 calories in a medium tomato) and they also provide thiamin, niacin, vitamin B6, magnesium, phosphorus and copper. They have a rich supply of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory support and that’s why they help in bone health and prevent prostate and stomach cancer (a substance called lycopene, which is responsible for tomatoes red color, is the reason for protecting from this types of cancer).

Tomato Cupcake

Breastfeeding moms must eat tomatoes because increases lycopene concentrations. As already mentioned tomatoes are a source of vitamin C, one of the many essential nutrients you need during pregnancy. This vitamin also helps in the absorption of iron, which is of special concern during pregnancy, as pregnant women generally have higher iron needs.

Tomatoes reduce risk of heart disease, atherosclerosis and diabetes. Diets that include tomatoes have been linked with reduced risk of some neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, they contain zea-xanthin a flavonoid that protect eyes by harmful ultra-violet rays.

For all this reasons many celebrities include tomatoes in their diet, like Fergie. She eats for breakfast low fat cottage cheese with sliced tomatoes. Maybe you can follow her example…

Not only do tomatoes taste great but they also keep the skin beautiful and healthy. Mix honey with tomato juice for smooth and glowing skin. Summer is here and so the inflamed skin and sunburn. Crush a tomato, mix it with yogurt and enjoy the sun!

Health Benefits of Grapes

First of all grapes are high in water content and help you to keep hydrated. In addition to that, the hydrating power of grapes increases the moisture present in the lungs and reduces asthma. Grapes also contain fiber, which is essential for minimizing constipation.

They are full of powerful antioxidants known as polyphenols, which may slow or prevent many types of cancer and also can enhance brain health and delay the onset of degenerative neural diseases. Red grapes particularly, have strong antibacterial properties that can protect you from infections that are very common in summer time.

Flavonoids have antioxidants, which can reduce and fight the damage caused by free radicals.

Free radicals cause things like the development of cataracts, as well as cardiovascular diseases, cancer and various age-related problems.

The fiber and potassium in grapes also support heart health. Moreover because of their high potassium content, grapes are recommended to those with high blood pressure.

Grapes are light like the air and so they play an important role in dyspepsia as they relieve irritation in the stomach. If you suffer from anemia, eating grapes can certainly help as they aid in keeping iron and mineral levels balanced in the body.
